Spot latest changes
The list below summarises bug fixes and new features in the latest versions of Spot.
The most recent lifetime dongle version is 6.3.171, released on 2nd July
2024. Only use this link to the installer if you have a dongle.
The most recent rental version is 6.3.164, released on 5th March 2024. Rental users should download the setup file from their account at

- Added vertical text support for .itt files

- Added a report option to check for subtitles whose in or out times are too close to shot
cuts (see Options, Checks, Report Options)
- Added (back!) two zones to the snap to shot cut function: snap and safe

- The correct ellipsis (smart or three dots) is now used in punctuation checks. Use the AutoReplace window to select
the preferred format
- This is mainly a bug fix release for issues reported up to the end of July 2022
- Added a shortcut (Ctrl+/) that shifts the timeline to facilitate viewing data at the end of
the current section
- Removed the restriction on processing audio and video data simultaneously
- Added optional Ctrl+0 to 9 shortcuts to type accented characters without using the numpad.
Pressing Ctrl+2 followed by "e", for example, will output "é". Ctrl+8 followed by capital "T" will output "Ť". Select Edit, Edit Area,
Enable Ctrl Accent Shortcuts to enable/disable.

Important note: if you're upgrading from a version prior to 6.3 and have set a specific value for the last and next shot cut offset
profile setting, make sure you click the profile dropdown button on the main toolbar and select "Upgrade Settings" when you run 6.3 for the
first time. You only need to do this once.
- Added option (Options, Customise) to set the height of compact layout subtitles to match the main edit area height

Version 6.3.57 (23/8/2021)
Important note: if you're upgrading from a version prior to 6.3 and have set a specific value for the last and next shot cut offset
profile setting, make sure you click the profile dropdown button on the main toolbar and select "Upgrade Settings" when you run 6.3 for the
first time. You only need to do this once.
- Added option to show reading speed to one decimal place (click reading speed display)
- Added a "What if?" function to the text area: highlighting a word or words with the mouse will show the reading
speed as it would be if the selected words were deleted
- Added "live preview", enabling subtitles to run in sync with the video in Edit mode (Alt+F8)
- Added shortcut to set the in time/out time of current subtitle to last/next shot cut (Ctrl+1/Ctrl+3)
- Added shortcut to jump 12 frames backwards or forwards (Ctrl+frame back/frame forward)

- The Copy window is now called Compare and has added functionality
- The "Preview subtitles with boxing" button on the video toolbar now has three states: off
(default), boxed and striped. The boxing colour can be changed via Media, Window, Subtitle Boxing Colour.
Version 6.2.53 (24/8/2020)
- Added column header options to the Translation Template export format
- Fixed SRT import only excluding override tags on the first line of each subtitle
- Multi-format export now uses the current file name as the root export name
